Diocese of Kerry Earth Week from 29th Sept. to 7th Oct. 2012
Theme: Celebration and Care of Creation
This is an initiative of the Kerry Diocesan Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation Committee (JPIC)
We in the Diocese of Kerry are committed to making the care of creation an ongoing and integral part of our diocesan and parish life. We recognise that “ every action taken in favour of a just and more sustainable environment, no matter how small has an intrinsic value.” (The Cry of the Earth)
In celebrating Earth Week 2012 we will be reminded of the importance of preserving a sound and healthy environment for all. This can be a challenge. The earth is God’s gift to all of humanity. Thus we must be committed to protecting it by our way of life.
This year parishes across the diocese are being invited to take part and make this a diocesan “Celebration and Care of Creation”. Individuals and groups will be given the opportunity to enjoy and experience ways to live lightly, joyfully and responsibly within God’s creation.
To assist you with this, the Diocesan Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation Committee (JPIC) will make available a resource booklet. This booklet will be available to you either in hard copy or on the Diocese of Kerry website.
Earth Week 2012 will be from September 29th – October 7th It is our hope that each parish might be able to engage in an activity to support Earth Week. We would also like to offer parishes the opportunity to share with others what they are doing. The JPIC committee will promote each parish’s event/activity through a diocesan Earth Week 2012 calendar. To assist with this please fill out the Earth Week 2012 Parish Event Form.
